SKETCH CLASSES
Sketch comedy is a terrific way to explore your creativity and make new friends. It is a safe and fun activity to step out of your comfort zone or come out from under your shell in a supportive environment. We offer a comprehensive course structure focusing on a variety of fundamentals and skills that is great for any experience level.
The SCENE Program
SCENE stands for the Sketch Comedy Education and Networking Experience and it’s our core curriculum here at the Buckaroo Lodge. It will be a changing landscape of courses and workshops throughout the year with our Sketch Fundamentals and Improv to Sketch courses being the main focus of the program. These courses can be taken together as part of a package for maximum benefit or taken separately.

Sketch Fundamentals
This course is an introduction to sketch comedy writing covering the basics and setting our students up to write successful and funny sketches. Learn a variety of styles, formats, and techniques as well as how to identify the game along with heightening your characters and scenes. This 6 week course offers students an opportunity to enhance their comedic writing skills and put together a portfolio of different kinds of sketches. Along with being able to submit their work to our sketch comedy shows. By the end of the class students will have a better understanding of how to pitch and write different sketches and all the formats and styles that await them.

Improv to Sketch
Improv is a terrific way to find inspiration for sketch comedy or help bust your brain loose from that writers block you may be experiencing. If it’s the unusual thing you’re looking for to help kick off that sketch idea than it doesn’t get much more off the wall than improv. This 4 week course will help students draw inspiration from performing improvised scenes and discovering what can be turned into thick, rich, and meaty sketch possibilities. Also the opportunity to submit their work for our sketch comedy shows. Improv to Sketch is a great way to find those funny moments and inspiration without racking your brain too much!
