IMPROV CLASSES
Improv is a terrific way to explore your creativity and make new friends. It is a safe and fun activity to step out of your comfort zone or come out from under your shell in a supportive environment. We offer a complete course structure with classes focusing on a variety of skills that will help take you from a beginning improvisor to an advanced performer ready to take the stage every weekend. Each of these levels are six weeks long (classes are three hours) and will include a group performance at the end of each one.
Level One
Introduction to longform. Learning the fundamentals with a focus on two person scenes. In this class students will learn the power of positivity along with the age old bit of improv wisdom… YES AND!
Level Two
Ensemble work. Learning how to come together as a whole. In this class students will focus on working and performing as a cohesive unit in advanced scene work. It’s time to mix it up!
Level Three
Diving deeper into the ensemble. 3 or more person scenes and group games. The different types (hard, soft) and importance of edits. Group openings and a return/review of yes and. This class will focus on tightening the loose ends.
Level Four
Introduction to formats. Harold, Slacker, Little Brown Jug, La Ronde, Goon River, Armando, Monoscene, etc. This class will explore the different forms of improv and how they are put together. Each week will focus on a new format.
Level Five
Personal focus. Each student will get a half class period devoted to their goals and growth as a performer with the focus solely on them. Different exercises will be implemented in hopes to advance the gains of each student. This class will focus on personal development.
Level Six
Putting it all together. A revisit of the program with a focus on a final format selection and preparation. This class will shape the finished product for the team with the hope that they are confident in a format and will continue on.
